The staff course, in full

How your school's version is put together, what each member of staff receives, what it costs, and how to begin.

Built around your school

A general course tells staff what AI is. This one tells them what their school has decided. Before logins go out, you fill in a short setup form, and your version of the course is put together from the answers.

  1. i

You tell us how the school works

About twenty minutes: the tools on your register, the rules in your policy, who your DSL, DPO and tool approver are, and whether you are an exam centre. Answers from the policy builder carry straight over.

  2. ii

Your version is built from the answers

Your tools appear by name, your people are named where staff need them, and the assessed work module appears only if you need it. The text comes from a fixed, human-written library, the same way the policy builder works.

  3. iii

Staff log in, and you get the record

You see who has finished and who has not. When your register changes, tell us, and the course changes to match.

For a trust, each school gets its own version, or the trust has one with each school's own names and tools. Colleges and sixth forms get a version that fits how they are run.

The certificate

Everyone who passes the check gets their own certificate, with the school's name, the year it covers and a code anyone can check. It is renewed each September with the course, so the record never goes stale.

Signed by the course author and, if you wish, your headteacher. It records completion of this course; it is not an accredited qualification.

Sample certificate of completion for the staff course, with the staff member's name, school name, date, certificate code and two signatures to be filled in

Fees

One yearly fee covers the whole school: the setup, every member of staff, their certificates and the September refresh. The only thing that changes the fee is the size of your staff list.

Staff Usually Per year
Up to 60 Most primary and special schools £249
61 to 150 Larger primaries and most secondaries £449
Over 150 Large secondaries, all-through schools and colleges £695

[Prices exclude VAT.] Your school raises a purchase order and receives an invoice on 30 days; nothing is paid by card. The renewal costs the same as the first year. Trusts with three or more schools pay 15% less for each school. The first ten schools use it free for a year, in return for honest feedback.

Getting started

Write with your school's name and roughly how many staff you have. I reply with the setup form and a quote for your purchase order. Once the form comes back, your version is ready within [five school days], and logins go out from your staff list in one go.
